Barca give Blues clear path to sign Serie A star.
Chelsea and Manchester United have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Fiorentina winger Juan Cuadrado after Barcelona dropped their interest in the player, according to the Metro.
The Premier League giants have both been linked strongly with the impressive Colombian international recently, with United desperately keen to sign the 26-year-old as the ideal player to fill a right-sided wing-back role in Louis van Gaal’s 3-5-2 formation.
Although Chelsea have a number of options in the wide areas, it could be that German World Cup winner Andre Schurrle will be sold to Atletico Madrid to help fund a move for Cuadrado to arrive at Stamford Bridge as his replacement.
The two clubs are also reported to be in direct competition for AS Roma defender Mehdi Benatia.
