Barca need replacement for soon to be retired captain Puyol.
Spanish giants FC Barcelona are considering making a summer move for Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany to replace veteran captain Carles Puyol, reports the Sunday People.
Barca centre-back Puyol is now 35-years-old and starting to come towards the end of what has been an illustrious career at the Camp Nou, during which time the shaggy haired Spain international has won five La Liga titles as well as three Champions League trophies.
However, Barca are now making a list of possible replacements for Puyol, with the likes of Kompany, Chelsea defender David Luiz and Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels all possible candidates for the role.
Barcelona have already been in contact with City technical director Txiki Begiristain, who used to both play and then work for the club, to inquire about the possibility of signing the classy 26-year-old Belgium international, who would cost in the region of £20 million.
