Silva will be allowed to leave but only once a replacement is signed.
A transfer of Thiago Silva to Barcelona could be back on if current club Paris Saint-Germain manage to sign starlet Marquinhos from AS Roma as a replacement, according to Football Italia.
Barca manager Tito Vilanova has been in pursuit of Silva for some time but despite club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi insisting the Brazilian is not for sale, a deal could still well be on.
PSG are eyeing up Roma’s Marquinhos, who is also a Brazilian and like the 28-year-old plays central defence.
The 19-year-old sensation has been making a big name for himself in Serie A and has attracted interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
It was thought that the team from the Italian capital would hold out for €25m euros for the young Brazil defender, but with the French champions prepared to offer €30m there should be no issues.
However, despite seemingly endless funds at the Parc de Princes, with Edison Cavani also expected to arrive at PSG in a €64m switch from Napoli, something would have to give.
That something would be Silva, who was a record €42m transfer from AC Milan himself just 12 months ago and the Ligue 1 champions would be hoping to recuperate a large chunk of that from Barca.
Silva has been Vilanova’s number one target for some time, with the Catalans wanting to improve their defence due to the constant fitness issues of veteran Carles Puyol.
Although Javier Mascherano and Adriano were utilised in the centre of the back four last season, it is neither player’s preferred position and both lack the physical presence of the PSG man.
Barca have also been linked with Liverpool’s Daniel Agger and David Luiz of Chelsea, but if they could land Silva that would certainly be the preferred deal.
