Manchester United are drawing even closer to sealing the deal for Barcelona winger Pedro, with the Red Devils reportedly keen to stump up the player’s release clause.
Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets is holding out hope that his teammate will stay at the Camp Nou, though.
“I am selfish and I want Pedro to stay. We are friends and he gives a lot to the team,” Busquets said, according to Goal.
It will be difficult for the Barca midfielder and his other teammates to convince Pedro to stay, as the Spanish international is looking for more playing time.
Busquets himself acknowledged the 28-year-old’s desire to leave Barcelona.
“He wants to stay at Barcelona, but he also wants regular playing time, like every player in the world. I hope that whatever happens is what’s best for him,” Busquets said.
Pedro will no doubt add plenty to depth to the United attack as he is capable of playing as a winger or up front.
His playing time with the Catalan giants was reduced by the arrival of Luis Suarez as he dropped down the pecking order under manager Luis Enrique
The Spanish winger scored 11 goals in the 2014-15 season despite making just 15 starts for Barcelona, and he has netted double-digit goals in each of his last six seasons.
