Mesut Ozil has been Arsenal’s best player this season, scoring five goals and providing 18 assists in 28 Premier League starts.
This stunning form does not seem to have gone unnoticed. According to AS, Barcelona are keeping a close eye on the German playmaker.
AS suggest that Barca’s interest in Ozil is mutual, claiming the player is “crazy about returning to Spain”.
Arsenal are unlikely to sell their record signing for anything short of crazy money, but AS report that Barca could try to lower their financial outlay by offering the Gunners some fringe players in return.
The Spanish publication say the Gunners are interested in three members of Barcelona’s current squad – Arda Turan, Munir El Haddadi and Sandro Ramirez.
None of those three men have been regular starters under Luis Enrique this season.
Turan has started just eight La Liga games this term, while Munir and Sandro have made seven and four starts respectively.
Despite his lack of starts, Munir has made a significant impression in the first team. The 20-year-old striker has scored six goals in his last six games, including this headed effort in last week’s 6-0 win over Getafe.
Nevertheless, all three players would likely make a big impact at the Emirates Stadium if given the chance.
Real Madrid could have a big say in what happens to Ozil because, according to AS, Los Blancos – who sold him to Arsenal in 2013 – have a 48-hour first refusal clause on the 27-year-old and will receive 33% of any transfer fee in excess of €50m should he move elsewhere.
