Barca trying to reach yet another European final.
It was far from vintage Barcelona in their Champions League last-16 second-leg with Manchester City, but the Catalans did eventually run out as winners.
Goals from Lionel Messi and Dani Alves settled the tie – as they had in the first – with a consolation effort from City captain Vincent Kompany coming in between.
Here’s how Barca’s stars rated at the Nou Camp.
Victor Valdes – 6
A relatively quiet night for the Spaniard, who made one fine save to deny Edin Dzeko but other than that was untested – could do nothing about Kompany’s effort from close range.
Dani Alves – 6
Did get on the score-sheet and was always willing to go forward – as is expected of the Brazilian – but was fairly woeful in defence and allowed Aleksandar Kolarov and James Milner past him on several occasions.
Gerard Pique – 7
Was Barca’s leader in central defence but looks as if he needs more support in the future if Gerardo Martino’s side are to go anywhere in this tournament – clumsily fouled Dzeko for what should have been a penalty as well.
Javier Mascherano – 5
The Argentine looks uncomfortable and unconvincing in defence and with Martino’s new direct style is left exposed at the back by any striker with some sort of physical presence.
Jordi Alba – 7
A good return to action for the left-back, who has spent much of this current season out injured, with plenty of runs forward and some sharp form in defence when breaking up play.
