#10 Lionel Messi, Forward – 8/10
Messi may have lost the battle to overtake Cristiano Ronaldo as the highest scorer in Champions League history, but he won the war to get Barcelona their first Champions League cup in nearly five years. Juventus just couldn’t keep up with Messi and they were forced to foul him five times. Messi led the match with 69 passes – but his shots just weren’t on target.
#9 Luis Suarez, Forward – 9/10
Suarez had easily the best 68 minutes of any player in the match, scoring a goal at the 68′ mark and otherwise being absolutely dominant when he had ball possession. But there’s no excuse for getting a yellow card and risk being forced out of the game so soon after scoring a goal – hence the mandatory removal of a point from what would have otherwise been a flawless performance by Suarez.
