Vincent Kompany subject to interest from the La Liga champions this summer.
Manchester City are facing a battle to keep club captain Vincent Kompany, with Barcelona ready to make a £20m offer to sign the defender this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.
After failing to land PSG ‘s Thiago Silva, the Catalan giants have switched their attention to the Belgium international, who is reportedly unsettled at Eastlands.
The 27-year old has become one of the league’s finest and most consistent defenders since joining from Hamburg in 2008.
However, with instability at the Manchester club and no manager in place, this could be an ideal opportunity for Kompany to jump ship and join the La Liga champions, who will look to partner him with Gerard Pique, as they aim to make another run at the Champions League crown next season.
If manager-in-waiting Manuel Pellegrini does take over the club this summer, then a possible replacement for Kompany is Real Madrid defender Pepe, who a has grown out of favour with the Spanish club and is admired by the Chilean tactician.
