Barcelona and Chile star Alexis Sanchez has denied he did an interview with the Daily Express newspaper, according to reliable twitter account @BarcaStuff.
The Express ran an “exclusive” on Wednesday in which Sanchez allegedly criticised the English national team, claiming the players are ‘soft’ and dismissing the chances of Roy Hodgson’s side in next summer’s World Cup.
“I learned to be tough, and you can only learn that if you grow up in that environment,” Sanchez allegedly told the newspaper.
“It is not the fault of England or other European teams they did not grow up in an environment like that, but having everything so easy made them soft.
“I don’t think England can win the World Cup,” the forward reportedly added. “They have some very good players but are probably not at the level where they can beat the best.”
But the 24-year-old has denied ever giving the interview, claiming he has been left ‘annoyed and upset’ by the quotes attributed to him.
“Interview published by Daily Express? I want to clear this up as I never gave this interview. I am very annoyed and upset,” he said.
