The Catalans are still keen on the striker despite his latest controversy.
Despite having bitten Giorgio Chiellini in the recent Uruguay v Italy 2014 World Cup clash, Barcelona are still keen on signing Liverpool forward Luis Suarez, according to the Mirror.
For the third time in his career Suarez was seen to have bitten an opponent on Tuesday, when the 27-year-old appeared to have sunk his teeth into Chiellini’s shoulder in an off the ball incident.
FIFA have confirmed they have opened disciplinary proceedings concerning the event and if found guilty Suarez is set to face a lengthy international ban.
The Reds star was served with a 10-match ban in 2013 for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic and a similar incident occurred when the South American was with previous club Ajax.
It was thought that because of what had happened interest from Barca and their La Liga rivals Real Madrid would subside.
However, nothing has changed in terms of their stance in trying to acquire Suarez and the Catalans have made the first move with an astonishing offer worth £80m.
They are prepared to include forwards Pedro and Alexis Sanchez in the deal – two players manager Brendan Rodgers has had his eye on – and the cash to make up the rest of the £80m.
This would be difficult to refuse for the Merseysiders, despite the fact Suarez scored 31 Premier League goals in 33 matches last campaign and was named PFA Player of the Year as a result.
It could also come at the right time due to the bite as well, as after standing by the Uruguayan following the Ivanovic incident and an eight-match ban for racially abusing Manchester United’s Patrice Evra, patience is wearing thin at Anfield.
