Lionel Messi furious with Spanish press…
Barcelona star, and four time consecutive Ballon D’or winner Lionel Messi, has reacted angrily to claims he made a gesture after being substituted on Tuesday evening.
The Catalan giants eased to a 4-1 victory at home to Real Sociedad, with Messi scoring his seventh league goal of the season, and £50m signing Neymar bagging his first.
Madrid based paper AS, claimed the brilliant Argentine made a gesture after his new boss Gerardo Martino substituted him with ten minutes remaining.
Messi has angrily refuted these claims, claiming on his Facebook page:
“Nobody likes to be replaced, but we must accept it because it is the best for our team.
“What I will not accept is that certain media tell lies about any situation that happens around me.”
The unrest shouldn’t last for long, with Barcelona level with Atletico Madrid at the top of La Liga with six wins from six, and top of their Champions League group after an opening day thrashing of Ajax.
Messi has been substituted twice in La Liga already this season, which is the same amount of times he’s been taken off in the past three years. Ludicrously, he’s scored 323 goals in 387 appearances for Barcelona.
