Premier League club’s were reportedly interested in the Chilean international.
Barcelona vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu has told Chelsea and Liverpool that Alexis Sanchez is not for sale.
The Chilean international struggled to live up to expectations since a €26 million move to the Nou Camp from Udinese two years ago and managed just eight goals last season as Barca claimed the La Liga title.
Despite his shortcomings in Spain the 24-year-old has continued to attract interest from the Premier League along with Ligue 1 Monaco, who’ve spent over £100m on James Rodriguez, Joao Moutinho and Radamel Falcao this summer.
But after losing Thiago Alacantra to Bayern Munich last month Bartomeu has rejected claims that Alexis could be the next to leave the Catalan club.
“Alexis is not for sale. We trust in his ability,” he told El Mercurio
“It has long been speculated that he may leave, but not since he arrived at the club have we received a proposal.
“He will continue with us. We are pleased with his performances and we will not make him available in the transfer market.”
Liverpool are rumoured to be switching their attentions to Atletico Madrid forward Diego Costa and have made a £22 million bid for the Brazilian international as Brendan Rodgers aims to strengthen his attack.
