The Catalans are preparing to offer Sanchez to Roma for a deal to be struck.
Barcelona are preparing to offer AS Roma former Chelsea and Manchester United target Alexis Sanchez in a deal to land highly rated defender Marquinhos, according to Marca.
The Catalans have turned their attention to the 19-year-old after having failed to land preferred options Mats Hummels and Thiago Silva, of Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain respectively.
Real Madrid are also in the hunt for the Brazilian but with a €26m price tag on the centre-back, Barca are looking to offload a player to sweeten the deal.
Both Chelsea and United had shown interest in Sanchez with the Chilean’s time at the Nou Camp seemingly coming to an end,
However, the La Liga champions are far more open to using the attacker in a potential swap deal with Roma as it would also benefit their own squad.
The 24-year-old finished the season strongly at Barca, scoring three goals in his last four matches, netting 10 times in total as well as providing 14 assists.
Sanchez’s success at previous side Udinese in Serie A would make the forward more of an attractive prospect to Roma, as the Chile international has already proved his ability in the Italian league.
Marquinhos meanwhile has been attracting a lot of attention during his first season in Rome, since signing from Brazilian side Corinthians in the summer of 2012.
The teenager has made 26 league appearances for the club and featured in four Coppa Italia matches after arriving in the Italian capital 12 months ago.
