AMR: Angel Di Maria
With the arrival of Gareth Bale and Isco in the Spanish Capital, this summer could well have spelt the beginning of the end of Di Maria’s Real Madrid career.
But, like Isco, the Argentine has made the most of the Ozil shaped hole in Los Blancos’ squad and is quietly establishing himself as a key player under Carlo Ancelotti – so much so that the Italian boldly declared he had more for Real than the German.
Di Maria possess pace and trickery but also has an eye for a pass and will be crucial in providing ammunition for the likes of Bale, Ronaldo and Benzema this term.
AML: Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best players in history, but unfortunately will likely only be remembered as the second best of his generation – behind Lionel Messi.
The Portugal captain has been an astonishing goalscorer for Real Madrid – in his 179 La Liga and Champions League appearances for the club, he has scored 190 goals. The mantra of a good goalscoring record being a goal every two matches has been blown out the water by Ronaldo and Messi.
