Barcelona are reportedly weighing up a surprising move for Liverpool’s Glen Johnson as a replacement for the departing Dani Alves, according to SPORT.
Brazilian veteran Alves is largely expected to move on from the Nou Camp this summer, with Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain thought to be frontrunners for his signature and the Catalan giants are looking for a new right-back as neither Douglas or Martin Montoya have made the position their own when given the opportunity.
Johnson is also out of contract at the end of the campaign, and with no new contract on the horizon he is looking for somewhere new to continue his career.
And with Barca seemingly having a place they need to fill, they are ready to turn to the England international to fill the void that will be left by Alves.
The interest in the 31-year-old isn’t solely coming from Barca either, as the report states that it was Liverpool who offered him up in the first place.
The news will certainly come as a shock, but what’s even more shocking is that Barca see him as a good fit, despite being slightly concerned with his injury record.
