ter Stegen was, again, on hand to prevent any unlikely Bayern comeback with a lovely bit of athleticism to first stop a powerful Lewandowski half-volley from almost point blank range, to then hurl himself back to the goal-line to clear a trickling deflection away from sneaking in.
Bayern made it 2-2 on the night with half an hour to go but still needed four more goals to qualify for the final.
And the German giants salvaged some pride with a late winner from Thomas Muller with 15 minutes left on the clock. But it was too little, far too late and Barcelona saw out the tie calmly for the remaining time to secure a first Champions League final since 2011.
