Lahm is fully ware of the danger the £42.4m man poses to Bayern.
Bayern Munich face Arsenal in the Champions League last-16 and captain Philipp Lahm says the Germans are aware of the danger that Mesut Ozil poses.
The Gunners’ £42.4m club record signing has suffered a slight drop in form of late, but Lahm says Bayern are not taking the threat of the attacking midfielder lightly.
“Many of the players at Bayern know exactly what Mesut is capable of – he has been one of the best central midfield players in the world for many years now,” the 30-year-old told Goal.
“He sees passes and space that very few players in the world are able to see – he is a very intelligent player.
“Even when he is maybe not having the best of games or is not in the best form – you can’t give him any space or time on the ball – because in a second he can find that pass and you are punished.”
The first leg of the tie between these two sides takes place at the Emirates Stadium, with reigning champions Bayern very much the favourites.
Despite winning the treble of German Cup, Bundesliga and Champions League last term, now under the guidance of head coach Pep Guardiola the side are arguably even better.
They have conceded just 17 goals in all competitions this term and top the German top tier by a whopping 16 points.
Lahm has been enjoying a new defensive midfield role under Guardiola and it’s likely that the Germany international will be the man tasked with keeping Ozil quiet during the game.
