England star could be set for a transfer to the Allianz Arena.
Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are set to test Manchester United’s resolve to keep hold of star centre forward Wayne Rooney beyond the end of this season, according to reports in the Daily Mail.
The England international was controversially left out of the Red Devils’ starting line-up for their biggest match of the entire season to date when they took on La Liga champions Real Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League last 16 clash at Old Trafford last Tuesday – a decision by United head coach Sir Alex Ferguson that would not have been well received by the 27-year-old player, as much as the club have denied reports of his unhappiness.
And, despite the Scot’s insistence in his press conference on Friday ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final with Chelsea that the attacker would be offered a new deal to remain with the club, soon to be appointed Bayern coach Pep Guardiola may be set to test that promise with a big money bid for Rooney come the summer.
