Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester United could battle for Swiss sensation Xherdan Shaqiri in the summer, reports Inside Futbol.
The 22-year-old is a rotation option for Champions League holders Bayern Munich, and it’s no surprise that he struggles to get into the side in positions currently occupied by the likes of Arjen Robben, Thomas Muller, Mario Gotze and Franck Ribery.
He’s only been awarded eight Bundesliga starts, and his brother Erdin reckons he needs to move and play the matches his talent deserves.
“Xherdan is 22. At this age he needs to play regularly, which is currently not the case,” Erdin explained to Swiss daily Blick.
“Then when clubs like Liverpool, Manchester United, Inter Milan and other top clubs come, we will listen.”
The player himself has strengthened the rumours, by declaring that he will listen to offers in the summer.
“When you hear these names, of course you have to listen to the offer, but there is nothing concrete,” he said, reported in the Mirror.
“I cannot say anything to this. I am feeling good in Munich but as a player you have to listen, if one of these top clubs is interested.”
The player is stocky, but an excellent dribbler, and has a wonderfully powerful shot from outside the box.
Both United and Liverpool could benefit from his services, especially the latter, who have a paper thing squad which will need to be strengthened for next season’s likely Champions League campaign.
