Out-of-favour German international nearing exit from the Allianz.
Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez is said to prefer a move to Serie A this summer, according to his agent.
The 27-year-old is keen to leave the reigning Bundesliga and European champions in search of regular first-team football, and has been strongly linked with a move to Fiorentina.
However, there is no official confirmation of the two clubs agreeing on a deal, while Gomez has yet to agree on personal terms too.
Nevertheless, agent Uli Ferber has revealed that he would be open to a move to Italy this summer, and furthermore he would prefer to ply his trade in Serie A next season rather than any other league.
“I hope that the next step will be made in the upcoming few days,” Ferber was quoted as saying by Kicker, as reported by Goal.com.
“Mario has a preference to go to Italy.”
The German international played a limited role for the German giants last season, losing the starting berth to Mario Mandzukic.
It is understood that following the arrival of Pep Guardiola as the new coach, he will fall further down the pecking order and is therefore looking for a new challenge ahead of next season.
Interest is said to be high in the striker, who despite his lack of regular football has proven to be a prolific scorer. However, it would appear that his future lies elsewhere, with Vincenzo Montella hoping to take him to Florence.
Their move arguably hinges on Stevan Jovetic’s future, with the Montenegrin expected to leave the club this summer.
While Juventus have suggested they are still in the running for his signature despite the arrival of Carlos Tevez, it is though that several Premier League sides are also monitoring the situation.
