The Swiss star doesn’t fit into current boss Pep Guardiola’s plans allegedly, with the former Barcelona manager deeming him “not clever enough” to play for the German champions.
It is thought that a bid of around €20m would be enough to convince the Bundesliga side to sell, and with his playing time limited so far this season Shaqiri would almost certainly be open to a move.
He has made just three appearances in the league this campaign, totalling just over 300 minutes of game time.
Liverpool will face heavy competition from Manchester United, while Arsenal and Tottenham are also thought to be monitoring the situation.
Brendan Rodgers’ summer signings have failed to live up to expectations so far, so the Merseyside club badly need to strengthen in January if they are to have any hope of even making the Champions League once again.
