Neuer has unfinished business with the Blues after Champions League loss in 2012.
Ahead of the Super Cup between Bayern Munich and Chelsea on Friday, goalkeeper Manuel Neuer says that the Germans want revenge.
The two teams last met in the Champions League final of 2012, when Bayern were beaten on penalties by the Blues following a late Didier Drogba equaliser.
The German champions went on to win the competition this year after an impressive season that saw the club win the treble, but Neuer still has unfinished business with the west London side.
“It’s a unique chance for us players to win this trophy,” said Neuer.
“It’s a final, and a match against the Europa League winners, and that’s Chelsea.
“We still have something to clear with them, and take revenge, so hopefully we can win in Prague.”
The 27-year-old is now widely regarded as one of the best ‘keepers in European football, following two impressive campaigns with Bayern after a move from Schalke 04 in 2011.
Neuer kept an astonishing 18 clean-sheets in the Bundesliga last term and is yet to concede in the current league season.
The stopper is also now considered to be Germany’s undisputed No.1 between the sticks and to date has earned 39 caps for the country.
Bayern’s tie with Chelsea in the Super Cup will also be the first time managerial rivals Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho have met since being in charge of Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively.
Mourinho will be hoping to take the English side one step further than last year, when the Blues lost the same tie to Atletico Madrid 4-1 thanks to a Radamel Falcao hat-trick.
