Schalke face the worst possible opponent in a bid to bounce back from the 6-1 Champions League hammering against Real Madrid, as they travel to the runaway league leaders Bayern Munich.

Thomas Mueller and Franck Ribery are both back in light training for Bayern but the clash with Schalke has come too soon for the pair, meaning Arjen Robben and Mario Goetze are likely to occupy the wide positions for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Bastian Schweinsteiger is also set to start as he looks to pick up some much-need match practice, with Thiago Alcantara likely to be rested.
Long-term absentee Holger Badstuber is Bayern’s only other injury worry, while Mario Mandzukic will probably get another start up front.
Schalke have a whole host of injuries ahead of the trip to Bavaria, with Felipe Santana, Marco Hoger, Dennis Aogo, Christian Clemens, Jan Kirchhoff and Atsuto Uchida all out.
Kyriakos Papadopoulos could replace Santana at centre-back, while at left-back, Sead Kolasinac is not fully fit and could be replaced by Christian Fuchs.
Leon Goretzka and Julian Draxler compete for the spot on the left wing.
