Dutchman is of interest to the Italian giants.
According to AC Milan chief Adriano Galliani, Benfica have offered him the services of talented young winger Ola John.
The Rossoneri vice-president has spoken to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo over recent speculation suggesting that the 21-year-old could be on his way to San Siro this summer.
“Ola John is of great interest to us. Benfica offered him to us and we’re thinking about it,” commented Galliani as reported by Football Italia.
“I cannot say whether it is for a loan or something else right now,” he concluded.
O Jogo report that Milan are prepared to offer up to €15m for the Dutchman, but the Italian media are far more sceptical over the deal, suggesting that it will in actual fact be much less.
However, it would appear to be a strange move for Milan considering the attacking options already at the disposal of coach Massimiliano Allegri.
Having signed Mario Balotelli back in January, as well as holding on to both Robinho and Stephan El Shaarawy this summer, there appears to be a lack of necessity to bring in another attacker.
Rumours in Italy suggest that Milan would only be interested in signing Japanese playmaker Keisuke Honda ahead of the new campaign, but problems continue to arise in that deal and it is more likely the CSKA Moscow star will arrive on a free transfer in January.
Nevertheless, it is still a surprising move for the Italian giants with Galliani admitting to their interest in the John, and it remains to be seen whether or not a deal can be concluded to take the star to Serie A this summer.
