An unnamed English side is looking to sign Oscar Cardozo.
Portuguese side Benfica have received a £14.7m bid from an unnamed Premier League club for striker Oscar Cardozo, who is a reported target for Liverpool, according to Portuguese website O Jogo.
The Paraguay international only signed a new deal with his current club three months ago, although his agent Aldave Pedro has admitted that if the offer is right then a transfer would be possible.
“Every day I get numerous offers for Cardozo. He has offers from England, Italy and Turkey,” Pedro was quoted on talkSPORT.
“I talked to the president and he told me that if he can get a good deal he could go.”
The forward has been one of the most coveted players in European football in the past few years, although now aged 30 it’s likely Cardozo will need to make a big move soon before he becomes too old.
In recent times the Paraguayan has also been linked with Serie A champions Juventus, but with a Premier League side making a bid they have clearly shown their intentions.
With Liverpool expected to offload want-away striker Luis Suarez this summer with the Uruguayan becoming unsettled at Anfield, coupled with the sale of Andy Carroll, a new front-man is required on Merseyside.
Cardozo is a proven goalscorer, having netted 31 times in 46 games for Benfica in 2012/13, including the side’s only goal in the 2-1 Europa League final defeat to Chelsea.
The striker has been at the Estadio da Luz since 2007 following a £10.3m switch from Newell’s Old Boys in Argentina.
Watch a terrific hat-trick from Cardozo below in a 4-1 league win over Maritimo.
