The Portuguese club want €5.5m for the winger.
Benfica have set Liverpool a €5.5m price to sign their Spanish winger Nolito this summer, reports Portuguese sports website Record.
The Reds have shown interest in the 26-year-old and now the Primeira Liga club seem prepared to part with their winger, but only if Brendan Rodgers meets the target.
Nolito is contracted at the Estadio da Luz until 2016 but is not in manager Jorge Jesus’ plans for the upcoming season and therefore a move to Anfield could work well for all parties.
The forward has been at Benfica for two years since a free transfer from Barcelona B in 2011, but has struggled to stake a regular spot in the side and played just 15 times for the club in all competitions in 2012/13.
In fact the Spaniard was loaned back to the country of his birth in January when he made the switch to La Liga side Granada, helping the club avoid relegation from the top tier in Spain.
Three goals and three assists from Nolito in 17 league matches for Granada has clearly convinced Liverpool that the attacker is worth taking a punt on and at a relatively low price, it wouldn’t be too much of a gamble for Rodgers.
The Reds are aiming to strengthen their offensive line-up in this upcoming transfer window with the sale of club record signing Andy Carroll to West Ham and the constant link with a move from Merseyside for Luis Suarez.
Therefore Nolito would sure up an attack that is also likely to include new signings Iago Aspas of Celta Vigo and Sevilla’s Luis Alberto Romero.
