Whether it’s age or just a bad stretch, John Terry has been a huge part of the problem at Stamford Bridge.
Among Chelsea’s 10 summer pickups, only four have been given a number so far: Asmir Begovic, Baba Rahman, Pedro, and Kenedy.
To call August a bad month for Chelsea would be a massive understatement. Despite an impressive performance by summer acquisition Pedro in the last two games, the Blues have been simply awful – and at the heart of it all has been the shoddy play of long-time captain John Terry.

Chelsea did make some moves for defenders on the final day of the transfer window, so it’ll be interesting to see how some of Mourinho’s new toys fit into his scheme with changes almost pre-ordained to come soon.
This is how we think a fully fit United will lineup after the club’s summer of spending.
Thibaut Courtois
He hasn’t emerged into the permanent Petr Cech replacement the Blues wanted him to be – yet – but he’s still a better option than summer pickup Asmir Begovic.
To date, Courtois and Begovic have combined to allow 9 goals in the first four starts and at least 2 goals in every single game in August.
Baba Rahman
He’ll replace John Terry during his suspensions, but Baba Rahman could actually be a solid option in the middle of the defense if Terry really is breaking down.
Branislav Ivanovic
It was hard to choose between kicking out the struggling Ivanovic or the struggling Chelsea captain.
Say what you will about Ivanovic, he he hasn’t made a move that’s cost the club wins – yet.
