GK: Petr Cech
Arsenal’s only summer signing was a very good one as they persuaded rivals Chelsea to sell them one of the best goalkeepers around. Cech is a massive improvement on David Ospina or Wojciech Szczesny.
RB: Matteo Darmian
The Red Devils paid £12.7m to land the right-back from Torino, and he has started his career with United great promise, helping them to four clean sheets in six matches in all competitions.
CB: Virgil van Dijk
Southampton beat the clock to sign the Dutch defender from Celtic on deadline day. He is unproven against the best strikers in the game, but boy does he have all of the attributes to be a success.
CB: Nicolas Otamendi
Otamendi cost Manchester City the huge sum of £32m, but comes with the reputation of having been the best defender in La Liga last season. He will aim to prove why once he forces his way into the team.
LB: Joe Gomez
His arrival from Charlton went under the radar, but the 18-year-old has shown maturity and confidence beyond his years to establish himself as first-choice left-back in his early days at Liverpool.
