Arsene Wenger wants his summer transfer business wrapped up quickly…
Arsenal want to to enter the transfer market immediately this summer, and have already started discussions with Real Madrid and Schalke over potential signings, reports the Daily Mail.
The Gunners want the prodigal striker Alvaro Morata, who plays for Los Blancos, and the uber talented attacking midfield gem Julian Draxler, currently plying his trade in the Bundesliga.
The north London side has struggled badly in the second half of the season, and now face a fight with Everton for a place in the top four. The side lacks pace and striker options, which the two targets would undoubtedly provide.
Manager Arsene Wenger is especially keen on Draxler, but doesn’t want to pay the £37m release clause in his contract. The 21-year-old is being closely followed by a number of large European clubs though, so Arsenal could stuck in a bidding war for his services.
This term, Draxler has been a fixture in Schalke’s starting XI, and although he’s assisted six goals, he’s only bagged one in the German top flight.
Morata on the other hand has had to be content with a place on Madrid’s bench. It’s been difficult for the young Spaniard to get the game time his ability deserves with Karim Benzema spearheading the side, but he’s still notched 7 in all competitions – despite only starting one La Liga match.
