The former Australia batsman has penned a three-year deal with the Renegades after spending four seasons at the Stars.
“It’s a big move for me but it’s the right one. I had four good years with the Stars but now is the time for a fresh start and the Renegades were at the front of the queue,” White said in a club statement.
“I’m glad I can stay in Melbourne and I’m looking forward to playing our home matches at Etihad Stadium. With all the support from the Renegades members and fans and meeting some of my new team mates in BBL|05, it should be a great atmosphere.”
Under White’s captaincy, the Stars reached the BBL semi-finals on four occasions but failed to progress any further.
The former Australia T20 captain will join Victorian teammates Aaron Finch, Matthew Wade, Peter Siddle and James Pattinson at the Renegades.
White’s move will only increase speculation that current Australia captain Michael Clarke will join the Stars for 2015/16 season.
