Sydney Sixers skipper Moises Henriques will miss the opening game of the 2015/16 Big Bash League season after being handed a one-game suspension for his side’s slow over rate in Wednesday’s BBL final.
Cricket Australia says the Sixers were one over behind its required rate at the end of the match.
Under the Big Bash League playing conditions, each member of the Sixers starting XI will receive a $500 fine, with the penalty reduced to $250 without an appeal.
It was Henriques’ slow over rate penalty this season and is unable to play in the opening fixture of BBL05.
The decision adds salt to the wounds for Henriques, with the Sixers losing the decider on the final ball.
