Midlands oufit do not see a future at the club for their ex-skipper.
Aston Villa will listen to offers for unsettled front man Darren Bent when the transfer window reopens later this summer, according to reports in the Daily Mail.
The some-time England international was only used as a bit-part player last season under new Villa head coach Paul Lambert, and this despite the fact that the 29-year-old had started the campaign as the club’s No 1 attacker.
However, the devastating form in front of goal of new Villa forward Christian Benteke forced his fellow striker out of the starting line-up, with Bent barely seen in a Villa shirt all season long.
In fact the player that previous Villa boss Gerard Houllier forked out £24 million for in January 2011made just the 16 Premier League appearances for Villa last season, scoring only three times in the process, while in all competitions the former club captain played in 26 games, netting six times.
