Despite a poor season overall for Manchester United, Wayne Rooney has had a strong campaign personally.
The England international has scored 17 goals and 10 assists this term, and revelled in the confidence placed in him by former Red Devils boss David Moyes, who helped repair the fractured relationship between club and player, and was vital in Rooney committing his long term future to the Old Trafford outfit.
Now 28, Rooney has alternated much of his career between the number nine and ten positions, and this season his role has largely reflected the number on the back of his shirt.
An in form Rooney could make a huge difference to England at the World Cup this summer.
