Midfielder signs 12-month deal to play in the Middle East.
After showing off his skills in two huge Melbourne Victory exhibition games, Billy Celeski has secured a move to the UAE.
Subject to a Medical, the 28-year-old central midfielder will move to Al-Shaab CSC on a twelve month contract.
He played a key part in the Dark Blues friendly games against Liverpool and also played with the A-league all stars in a match against Manchester United.
Celeski, who completed more passes last season than any other player, joined Victory in 2008. Winning the A-league in 2008/09, in his four years at the club he played 123 games,scoring 6 goals.
Speaking to Goal.com his coach Ange Postecoglou said: “Billy has been an integral part of Victory’s team over several years and in the past two weeks we have seen him perform very well against some of the best midfielders in the world.”
Al-Sharab, based in the North of the UAE, finished in 12th position (from 14 teams) in the Arabian Gulf league.
Postecoglou was hopeful that fans would still keep a watchful eye on Celeski despite the fact that he will be playing almost 7,500 miles away.
“We wish Billy all the best in the upcoming season in the Middle East and i’m sure many of our fans will be keeping a close eye on his performances albeit from afar.”
