Blackburn Rovers could seal a stunning swoop for Italian striker Luca Toni, claim the Daily Mirror.
The 2006 World Cup winner is far from first choice at Juventus, and is believed to be allowed to move on loan for the final year of his contract in order to remove him from the wage bill.
Prospective suitors would then be able to sign him on a free transfer next summer.
Toni has enjoyed prolific seasons in both Serie A and the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich, but at the age of 34 he is presumably well past his peak.
However, even if he offers little in terms of pace, he is a fantastic header of the ball and a decent finisher – and could be the man to grab Blackburn some much needed goals to ease the pressure off Steve Kean.
