Blackburn Rovers have joined the race to sign Birmingham City defender Scott Dann, and are hopeful they can beat the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool to the player’s signature before the transfer window closes.
Dann has been linked with a move away from St Andrews all summer, and had been thought to be a target of Arsenal to help ease their defensive worries, whilst Reds fans had thought he’d be a perfect fit for Liverpool due to his scouse background.
Arsenal and Liverpool had been expected to bid for Dann before the transfer window closes this week, but their interest may well have ended as they appeared to plug their defensive holes with other targets.
Liverpool have instead opted for Uruguayan defender Sebastian Coates, while Arsenal look set to seal a deal for German international Per Mertesacker.
Birmingham City manager Chris Hughton is resigned to losing star defender Dann, having left him out of the Blues’ team for all of their matches so far this season.
Dann is keen to return to the Premier League, and QPR are also believed to be readying a bid for the 24 year-old, with Tony Fernandes’ takeover of the club last week having added much needed funds and fresh momentum to their recruitment drive.
