Trotters want youngster to reject White Hart Lane switch.
Bolton are hoping to beat Tottenham to the signing of 19-year-old USA goalkeeper Charlie Horton, reports the Daily Mirror.
The giant 6’5″ stopper has been invited to Spurs’ luxury training complex for pre-season but Trotters boss Dougie Freedman is hoping to persuade the youngster to reject a move to White Hart Lane in order to get a quicker route to first team football with the Championship outfit.
Horton is currently at the United States soccer development academy and Spurs have sent veteran US ‘keeper Brad Friedel to study him in training this week.
Wanderers meanwhile are ready to offer Horton a direct move, which could be more appealing for the player, whose parents are British.
Spurs expect forgotten Brazilian Heurelho Gomes to leave the club this summer and, with Friedel now 42, the north London outfit should have a vacant as back-up to current number one Hugo Lloris in the coming seasons.
