Bolton are set to tie up a £3million deal for Liverpool striker David Ngog after calling time on move for Chelsea’s Daniel Sturridge.
Trotters boss Owen Coyle is keen to bolster his attacking options before the close of the transfer window and has seen one final attempt to land Sturridge on loan rebuffed by the West London club.
Coyle is now close to landing Ngog as Liverpool line up Man City outcast Craig Bellamy as his replacement – four years after the Welshman left Anfield after an unsuccessful spell.
The 22-year-old Frenchman has struggled to make an impact on Merseyside since arriving from Paris St Germain in 2008 with only nine league goals in 63 games.
He has slipped further down the pecking order following last January’s arrival of Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez and will be allowed to move on by Reds manager Kenny Dalglish.
