Five year deal agreed between Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund for Belgium international.
Borussia Dortmund have agreed a five year deal with Chelsea playmaker Kevin De Bruyne, according to German tabloid Bild.
The 21 year-old has excelled on loan at Werder Bremen this season, but may find a regular place in attacking midfield at Stamford Bridge in the next campaign difficult to achieve.
Juan Mata, Eden Hazard, Oscar, Victor Moses and Marko Marin as options in the attacking three positions behind a lone orthodox striker, as well as Jon Obi Mikel, Frank Lampard, Ramires, Oriol Romeu and David Luiz capable of playing in the deeper midfield role.
Still, Belgium international Kevin De Bruyne’s form is impressive enough to warrant consideration.
His eight goals and nine assists in 32 Bundesliga appearances so far this season are a highly creditable total, with only Mata and Hazard posting comparable figures.
However, it is likely that De Bruyne’s sale will be to free up funds to buy Bayer Leverkusen’s winger Andre Schurrle.
As for Dortmund, the sale of Mario Goetze to Bayern Munich means Kevin De Bruyne is likely being bought as a direct replacement.
