Borussia Dortmund are set to sign Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko this summer, according to a Guardian journalist.
Borussia Dortmund are close to completing the summer signing of Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko, according to Bundesliga expert Raphael Honigstein.
The Guardian’s German football correspondent, Honigstein is well placed to confirm Dortmund’s interest.
forgot to tweet some gossip from Manchester: Edin Dzeko to Borussia Dortmund is “all but done”, I was told. #BVB

Jurgen Klopp, coach of Borussia Dortmund, has created a brilliant team at Signal Iduna Park.
Bringing together players like Mats Hummels, Sven Bender, Mario Goetze, Marco Reus and Robert Lewandowski, Dortmund now possess a squad of world class talent, who breezed into the quarter finals of the UEFA Champions League with a 5-2 aggregate win over Shakhtar Donetsk in the last 16.
However, with Robert Lewandowski looking ever more likely to depart the club – having refused to sign a new contract for months – naturally Jurgen Klopp is looking at replacements.
Dzeko has been something of a super-sub for Manchester City this season – with the Bosnia international coming off the bench to rescue his team from the jaws of defeat on multiple occasions already this season.
With Manchester City having already sold Mario Balotelli to AC Milan in January, if Dzeko is sold they will likely enter the transfer market themselves in the summer.
A final word of caution from Raphael Honigstein however:
one word of caution: Dzeko to Bayern was also almost done last year, before too many agents asked for too much commission

The first of the big summer transfer sagas, perhaps.
