Bundesliga runners-up to rival Reds for Shakhtar star.
Borussia Dortmund have bid £19.5m for Liverpool target Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to CEO of the midfielder’s club Shakhtar Donetsk.
The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to Anfield, with reports suggesting the Premier League outfit were closing in on a £20m deal for midfielder.
But Shakhtar Donetsk CEO Sergie Palkin has confirmed that Champions League runners-up Dortmund have bid for the player, who scored a record 25 league goals for the Ukrainian club last season.
On Tuesday, Shakhtar claimed Mkhitaryan had gone AWOL and a picture of the Armenia international surfaced on Wednesday reportedly taken in a London hotel.
Palkin insisted that Dortmund would have to up their offer in order to land the goal-scoring star, however.
“I don’t know where Mkhitaryan is, now; solely his agent knows this. Borussia offered $30m (£19.5m) for the midfielder. I contacted Mkhitaryan’s agent yesterday. I wrote to him about the official position of the club,” Palkin told Terrikon.
Palkin says Dortmund’s offer is unacceptable and hinted the German club must act quickly to get their man.
“We are prepared to sell Mkhitaryan for €30m (£25m); this offer stands for the next 10 days. If Mkhitaryan wishes to leave, they have to pay this amount for him,”
