Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla quotes Herman Hummels, the father of Mats, on his website as saying his son will not transfer to Louis van Gaal’s side this January but made no attempt to distance his son from an eventual move to United.
“United? On Mats many things have been said and written. What I can say for sure is that he will not go in January,” said Hummel’s father, according to this report.
Whilst it’s made clear Hummels will be make no immediate move to Old Trafford, Herman leaves the door wide open on a potential summer deal and doesn’t explicitly say United won’t get their main in the summer, which he could of easily done.
Hummels has ben continually linked with a move to United for several windows now and there have certainly been claims before that a deal between the two has been reached.
However, if the quotes from Pedulla are correct, Hummels’ father has offered the biggest hint yet his son could be playing at Old Trafford soon enough.
