The press conference will take place in Los Angeles next Wednesday and it will be the only joint promotional event until fight week when they will cross paths again in the final press conference at the MGM Grand in the days before their super-fight.
Mayweather announced that the contract had been signed last month to put an end to the five-year wait to see the pound-for-pound kings of boxing settle their rivalry, and given the magnitude of the fight, neither fighter needs to sell the bout given that it is already expected to shatter various records.
Both men have now started their respective training camps, with Pacquiao arriving in LA over the weekend to start work at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, while Mayweather trains at his own gym in Las Vegas.
However, Pacquiao will start his work without trainer Freddie Roach who is away with another fighter as he prepares for his first world title clash.
Nevertheless, Roach was keen to stress earlier this week that the gym would be completely shutdown for Pacquiao so that they can work on a game-plan. He insisted that they will not allow anyone to see what they are working on, and naturally it will need to be something special to finally inflict a loss on Mayweather.
The 37-year-old will look to extend his unbeaten record to 48-0, but opinion is certainly divided on who will come away the victor. Mayweather’s defensive style with his precise counter-punching could pick off Pacquiao, but then again the unbeaten American has never faced someone with Pac-Man’s speed and ability to throw combinations from all angles.
