James DeGale has insisted that British rival Carl Froch is a p**** who doesn’t want to fight him and has urged him to retire rather than return to the ring.

DeGale made history on Saturday as he became the first British Olympic gold medallist to become a world champion as a professional after defeating Andre Dirrell to win the IBF super-middleweight title.
After a quick start to the fight during which he had his American opponent on the floor in the second round, the 29-year-old tailed off through the middle rounds before a strong finish to ensure that he won.
Froch, a guest in the Sky Sports studio, was pleased for his fellow Brit and congratulated him on his win, but wasn’t impressed with his performance from the sixth round onwards as he risked letting it slip.
Nevertheless, there is still animosity from DeGale’s camp towards Froch after the former IBF champion delayed his decision over his next move before eventually vacating the belt.
The Londoner believes that he didn’t want to fight him and so avoided the bout with his excuse of wanting to fight in Las Vegas before he retires.
Froch is still considering his options as a fight with Gennady Golovkin at Wembley is seemingly emerging as his priority, but DeGale is still clearly disappointed that a fight between the two Brits didn’t materialise.
“Listen, I don’t want to be disrespectful but Froch is a p****. He don’t want to fight me,” DeGale said after his win over Dirrell, as reported by the Daily Mail.
‘Chunky’ has insisted throughout all the talk of a possible clash that he is all wrong for Froch and is supremely confident that he would win if they ever did face off.
However, it looks unlikely that it will happen, with a rematch with George Groves arguably the biggest option in 2016 provided that his rival can defeat Badou Jack later this year for the WBC title.
