Brook will possibly fight in June: Hearn confident after positive talks.
In a report from the Daily Mail, it is alleged that the current IBF welterweight champion is willing to give his rival the lion’s share of the pot in order to finally settle their differences in the ring.
There has been no confirmation from Brook or his promoter Eddie Hearn regarding such a situation, with the 28-year-old currently in training camp for his first title defence on March 28 against Jo Jo Dan.
Hearn has pencilled in June 13 as a possible date for the two to fight at Wembley, but so far Khan has rejected their advances and is believed to be preparing for a bout in the USA with Adrien Broner heavily linked.
Khan has continuously downplayed Brook’s standing, even though he will potentially be the only other champion in the welterweight division along with either Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao after their mega-fight on May 2.
While Brook certainly lacks the profile, he does bring significance to the fight with his world title and the fact that the rivalry with Khan would secure a huge pay-day for both with Wembley expected to sell out to see the showdown.
Hearn has previously suggested that he has had positive talks with Khan’s camp, but it is difficult situation for all concerned as the Bolton-born fighter appears to be avoiding the bout despite his fellow Englishman delivering on all demands.
Brook has warned Khan that not only would he take him out if they met in the ring, but he won’t wait around forever for him as he looks to set up a bout with either Brandon Rios or Juan Manual Marquez this summer instead before possibly pushing for a unification fight with either Mayweather or Pacquiao later in the year.
