Joshua responds to Johnson taunts: American labels him a “hype job”.
The ‘Kingpin’ has already labelled his rival a “media hype job” this week and has reiterated that he is in the best shape of his life ahead of Saturday’s showdown.
Johnson has never been stopped in his career, and while boasting that he has the “antidote” for Joshua, he has been training in the UK for the past four weeks but won’t disclose who with.
Speculation has suggested that it has been with a rival British boxer with Dillian Whyte and Tyson Fury mentioned, but the American will not reveal anything at this point.
However, he had plenty to say at the final press conference on Wednesday as he insisted that he doesn’t fear what Joshua brings to the table in terms of power because he has none.
“Half the fight I’m going to fight with my hands down – he don’t have no power! Mark my words – that’ll be the way the fight will go. I don’t need my hands up. He doesn’t have no power to hurt me. Guaranteed,” Johnson told the media, as reported by Sky Sports.
“This will be so easy. This’ll be like a nursery rhyme. Mary had a little lamb. Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall. Jack and Jill went up the hill. This is one of those.
“When he wants to see power, he’s going to feel my power. For the first time in his career, he’s going to feel power and he’s going to get beat.”
The veteran fighter added that this will be the best heavyweight clash in the last 13 years, and remains fully confident in his ability to cause an upset.
Joshua will be looking to make it 13 wins out of 13 fights as a professional, and he insists that he will break his opponent down over their 10-round contest as fans will find out whether or not Johnson can back his talk up with action.
