Kevin Johnson has reignited his war of words with Anthony Joshua by calling him a “media hype job” ahead of their fight at the O2 in London on Saturday night.

Joshua has 12 wins in 12 fights as a professional, stopping every opponent that he has been in the ring with. However, the Olympic gold medallist faces his toughest test yet against the ‘Kingpin’.
The 35-year-old veteran has never been stopped and has been the distance with Vitali Klitschko, and so naturally the outspoken American is seen as a huge step up in class for his young rival.
While the pair have already clashed on two occasions, once at the press conference to announce the fight and then in Birmingham in the ring after Joshua’s last win, Johnson is ramping things up again as we have now arrived at fight week.
“He is a media hype job and let me tell you this, once this dude is out the way I’m going to show you that the future of the heavyweight division is right here,” Johnson said, according to Sky Sports.
“I’ve said it before, I’ve got the antidote for this guy. It’s something all of these amateur Olympic guys have in them, you’ll see come Saturday – that’s all I’m going to say on that.”
Johnson went on to add that he is in the best shape of his career as he claims that preparation for this fight is even better than that ahead of his bout with Klitschko.
It remains to be seen whether this is all bravado from the brash American, but he is as confident as ever that he will be able to claim an upset win and become the first man to inflict a loss on British heavyweight boxing’s next big hope.
Joshua vs Johnson is just one of several fights on an impressive bill on Saturday with Kell Brook taking on Frankie Gavin in the headline event.
