Tyson has previously given his prediction for the fight and has leaned towards Pac-Man winning the bout on May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
The former heavyweight champion believes that the Filipino’s work-rate, angles and combinations will be something that Mayweather has never encountered before and that could spell trouble for his unbeaten record which currently stands at 47-0.
While Tyson has stopped short of openly stating that he believes Pacquiao will win, he is certain of the fact that Mayweather will take more punishment in this fight compared to any of his previous outings.
“You need to put constant pressure on Floyd. Be in front of him all the time, but moving side to side and punching from angles. Manny is going to feint Floyd out of position a lot and make him throw more punches than he is used to, and that will open Floyd up,” Tyson told reporters, according to BoxingScene.
“He has never really been tested. Whatever happens in the fight, I really think that Floyd is going to be hit and hurt more than he has ever been before. We’re going to see how tough he is.”
Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach has insisted in recent weeks that he knows the key to unlocking Mayweather’s defense and conceded that his plan has only changed slightly since he first formulated it five years ago when talks over a bout first began.
Whether or not Pacquiao can execute his gameplan on May 2 remains to be seen, but it is clear that Tyson is of the opinion that ‘Money’ is set for real problems in his next bout and that makes for plenty of excitement in what will be the biggest fight in boxing history.
