Oscar De La Hoya has apologised to boxing fans after he deemed that Floyd Mayweather’s win over Manny Pacquiao wasn’t worth the money.

Mayweather secured a unanimous points decision win over his rival as he relied on his defensive genius to avoid getting into trouble at any point in the fight.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao struggled to get into range against his opponent and so was prevented from letting off his huge combinations aside from one slight blitz in the fourth round when he had Mayweather backed up against the ropes.
However, the 38-year-old blocked most of his best efforts and caught him with some big right hands as he stepped in, and so the fight that expected to thrill the world became a one-sided affair that failed to live up to expectations.
De La Hoya was undoubtedly disappointed with the result, and he insisted that he is more a fan of two fighters going in to fight rather than the “running style” which was an obvious dig at Mayweather.
He added that Canelo Alvarez against James Kirkland in Houston this weekend will undoubtedly be the more entertaining fight, and that certainly promises to deliver two fighters that will meet in the centre of the ring and go to war.
Given that Mayweather’s tactics have served him so well through his professional career to accumulate a 48-0 record, it is hard to argue with him as he essentially makes the most of his best skills.
However, there is no argument in that it isn’t always the most eye-catching style of boxing, and so there was inevitably a number of fans and celebrities who walked away disappointed on Saturday night.
Sorry boxing fans.

Call me old school but I like the fans getting their money's worth by watching an action packed fight.
