Wladimir Klitschko will face Bryant Jennings at Madison Square Garden on April 25 with his manager revealing to ESPN that all the terms have been agreed.
It will be the first fight back in the USA for Klitschko since February 2008 and his manager, Bernd Boente, has revealed that he is extremely excited about the fight and he is looking forward to continuing his domination of the division.
“Wladimir is looking forward to fighting in New York and rates Jennings very high as a challenger,” Boente said.
The 38-year-old is owner of three of the four major titles in the heavyweight division and he will be making his 18th defense of his second title reign.
While Klitschko (63-3, 54 KOs) will continue to face fierce criticism as the heavyweight division has seemingly lost its sparkle over the past decade, the Ukrainian has remained professional throughout and has beaten all comers put in front of him.
Jennings is confident that he can be the man to finally end his rival’s stay at the top, and if he is capable of pulling off a shock, it would be remarkable ascent to the top for the American who only started boxing in 2009.
“I have all of the attributes naturally to be a champion that you can’t teach — heart and will,” Jennings told ESPN.com.
“I’m psyched up. This is the level where I’m at. This is exactly what I planned to do. Whatever competition you are in, your goal should be to reach the top. This is the top, but now it’s about taking it to higher heights and winning.”
Jennings (19-0, 10 KOs) is 30 years old and is born and raised in Philadelphia, but he will be looking to follow in the footsteps of Deontay Wilder and bring all the heavyweight titles back to America.
Wilder defeated Bermane Stiverne for the WBC belt last weekend in Las Vegas and he has already revealed his plans to hopefully take on Klitschko later in the year in a unification bout.
